Marina Poša

Marina is a classically trained, multi-lingual mezzo-soprano who lives to sing, but it was only in 2017 that her journey as a creative artist began. That year, Marina premiered her first show El Vito! Since its debut, El Vito! A one-woman show has played all over Queensland, was selected for the Short + Sweet Festival, the Queensland Cabaret Festival 2021 and played at The Butterfly Club in Melbourne.

In 2022 Marina premiered her second show, ‘I am Maria’, at the Queensland Cabfest22. This multimodal show celebrates women, especially those from multicultural backgrounds, and the stories and emotions that have been passed down through generations. Marina has taken on the roles of producer, director, poet, actor and proud ambassador of multiculturalism through Classical Art Song with her shows. She is honoured to be the first artist in the Southern Hemisphere to sing and première songs by the late Brazilian female songwriter Carmen Sylvia Vieira Vasconcellos.

The Spanish based association Mundo Arts launched an art song challenge in May 2022 choosing Marina to perform in their online global concert celebrating “International day of Latin American and Iberian Song.”

Also in 2022, Marina was one of seven women artists/musicians chosen as SSI delegates to represent multiculturalism and diversity in music at The Australian Women in Music Awards 2022 (AWMA). Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre, BEMAC, named Marina “Artist of the Month” after her participation as a delegate.

In June 2022, Marina was one of three emerging artists announced as “Artist in Residence” for a twelve-month residency at Hayward Street Theatre, Brisbane, Queensland, where she will develop and explore her ideas for immersive theatre and the creation of new shows.

I am Maria! was launched in November 2022 as a part of Brisbane Fringe Festival. Additionally, she was selected to participate in the Passage program for the development of new works, supported by the Redland City Council's RPAC Performing Arts Centre. Her latest venture, "Conversations with Maria!," launches at The Anywhere Festival Brisbane in 2024.

Marina’s passion for culturally diverse art song and her strong desire to share her love of this genre sees her advocating for this cause in every story she imagines, every show she creates and every song she sings.
